PRESIDENTIAL candidate Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s failure to attend a presidential forum organized by a local preacher made the religious leader “very disappointed.”
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, whose six million followers believe to be the “Appointed Son of God,” said he re-scheduled the forum to accommodate Aquino, the standard bearer of Liberal Party.
“They said [Aquino] won’t be able to make it… so I asked them to choose a date. Senator Aquino chose March 9 and they committed to come at this date,” Quiboloy said in a speech before the forum.
“I would like to tell all of you, who are as disappointed just like me, what commitment is. Commitment is your word of honor. When you fail to fulfill your commitment, you have no word and you have no honor,” the preacher said.
Aquino’s closest rival to the presidency, Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr. of the Nacionalista Party, also skipped the event.
Present in the forum, which was held at the religious group’s headquarters, were presidential aspirants Senators Richard Gordon, Ma. Ana Consuelo “Jamby” Madrigal, Nicanor Perlas, Gilberto Teodoro Jr., and Eduardo “Eddie” Villanueva.
Former President Joseph Estrada was also in attendance but came late to the forum.
